Ensuring your mutual space stays private

1. Introduction

StayClose is a game for two people, and what you say to each other inside it is meant to stay between you. This policy sets out exactly what the app collects, who else processes it, and how to get rid of it.

StayClose is operated by Arunava Das (“StayClose”, “we”, “us”). By using the app or this site, you agree to this policy.

2. What We Collect

We do not track your location, your contacts, your photos, your camera or microphone, or your activity in other apps. What we do collect:

  • Your accountWhen you sign in with Google or Apple we receive your email address, display name and profile photo. If you use Sign in with Apple and hide your email, we only ever see Apple's private relay address.
  • Your profile and pairingThe name you choose, the answers you give during setup, your six-digit pairing code, and which account you are paired with.
  • Your playGame sessions, dice rolls, the prompts you were shown, your game history, and the wishes you and your partner create.
  • Your purchasesWhich decks you unlocked, the amount, and the store order identifier. Payment is handled entirely by Apple or Google — we never see or store your card details.
  • Device and usage dataDevice model, operating system, app version, language, approximate region, crash reports, and events describing how you move through the app.
  • Session recordingsThe app records how you interact with its screens — taps, scrolling and navigation — so we can find where the experience breaks. These recordings capture your interactions with the interface, which can include the content of screens you visit.
  • NotificationsIf you allow them, a push token for your device.

3. Why We Collect It

To create and secure your account; to pair you with your partner and keep a game in sync across two devices; to remember what you have unlocked; to send the notifications you asked for; to fix crashes; and to understand which parts of the game people actually use so we can improve them.

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not build advertising profiles.

4. Space Privacy

Our mantra is simple: What happens in StayClose stays in StayClose.

Game data is scoped so that only you and the partner you paired with can read it. Once you pair, your partner can see your display name, your photo, and everything you do in a shared game — your rolls, your answers and your wishes. That is the point of the game, and it is why you should only pair with someone you trust. You can unpair at any time from your profile.

5. Who Else Processes Your Data

We do not sell your personal data or your activity data to any third party, ever. We do rely on a small set of providers who process it on our behalf:

  • Google FirebaseSign-in, database, push notifications, crash reporting and analytics.
  • MixpanelProduct analytics.
  • Microsoft ClarityThe session recordings described above.
  • SentryError and crash diagnostics.
  • Apple and GoogleSign-in, app distribution, and payment processing for in-app purchases.

These providers may store data on servers outside your country, including in the United States and the European Union. We may also disclose data if the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety or our legal rights.

6. Data Retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. Crash and analytics data is kept for up to 24 months. Session recordings are kept for up to 30 days.

Purchase records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires, even after you delete your account, because they are financial records. They are not used to identify you afterwards.

7. Deleting Your Account

You can delete your account from inside the app: open Profile and choose Delete account. This permanently removes your profile, your wishes and your game history, and unpairs you from your partner. It cannot be undone.

Decks you have bought stay attached to your Apple ID or Google account — reinstall the app and tap Restore Purchase to get them back.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw consent for notifications or analytics. Email us at the address above to exercise any of them. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

9. Children

StayClose is rated 17+ and is not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 17. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will delete it.

10. Security

Data is encrypted in transit and access to our systems is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, but we take this seriously and will tell you promptly if something goes wrong that affects you.

11. Changes and Contact

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and, where the change is significant, tell you in the app before it takes effect.
